SPEEDWAY: Sam Gilkes top-scored with 13 points riding at number five and captain Max Fricke weighed in with 9+2 as Leicester won 49-41 at Oxford Spires on Monday afternoon.

The Spires have lost all four of their Premiership matches this season. The wet bank holiday weather prevented the return meeting from taking place in Leicester and also washed out both legs of the double-header between Birmingham and Belle Vue.

CYCLING: Aberystwyth-born Stephen Williams will be defending his Fleche-Wallone Ardennes one-day classic title when the race rolls out of the Belgian city of Ciney tomorrow afternoon.

The 127-mile route finishes on the summit of the third climb of the Mur de Huy. Katarzyna Niewiadoma returns to defend her women’s title in a start-list that also includes last year’s runner-up Demi Vollering and world champion Lotte Kopecky.

MEN’S BASKETBALL: Reigning champions London Lions host Leicester Riders at the capital’s Copper Box Arena Wednesday evening for the Super’s League title defining clash.

The Riders are currently four points behind the table-topping Lions but have a game in hand.
