Yemen: Battles grind on despite Houthi backing for truce

FIGHTING between Yemeni forces and the Saudi-led invasion coalition continued yesterday despite the country’s Houthi movement backing a US-proposed ceasefire.

The Republican Guard and the Houthi Popular Committees said yesterday they had recaptured most areas lost earlier to coalition forces in south-western Taiz province.

Coalition jets carried out two air strikes on the Serwah district of Marib province overnight on Wednesday, while others were reported in the capital Sanaa and northern Saada.
