Scottish government urged to enshrine human right to a healthy environment into law
ENVIRONMENTAL groups have welcomed a recommendation to enshrine the human right to a healthy environment in Scots law.
The Scottish government’s National Taskforce for Human Rights Leadership published detailed proposals for a new human rights law today, recommending the tabling of legislation in the next parliamentary session.
The SNP, which look likely to retain power in May’s Scottish Parliament elections, has agreed to incorporate the taskforce’s 30 recommendations, including the right to a healthy environment.
