Italian economy undersecretary resigns following call to change park name to Mussolini

ITALIAN economy undersecretary Claudio Durigon has resigned in a row over his suggestion that a park in his hometown should be renamed after the brother of fascist dictator Benito Mussolini.

Mr Durigon said that the League Party, of which he remains a member, was committed to restoring the original name of the park in Latina, Lazio, to honour Arnaldo Mussolini.

The park was renamed in 2017 to commemorate two anti-mafia magistrates who were murdered by the Sicilian mafia in 1992.
