Admirable Shrewsbury side suffer 4-1 loss at Anfield
Liverpool's Roberto Firmino (centre) scores their side's third goal of the game

Liverpool 4–1 Shrewsbury
by James Nalton at Anfield

LIVERPOOL’S Brazilian duo Fabinho and Roberto Firmino scored the goals to see their side through to the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Shrewsbury performed admirably at Anfield, taking the lead through Daniel Udoh.

But they were soon pegged back by the hosts when 17-year-old Kaide Gordon found space in the box to get on the end of a cross from 18-year-old Conor Bradley. Their ages an indication of the type of side Liverpool fielded.

Gordon tucked a composed left-footed finish past Marko Marosi in front of the Kop. A moment to remember for the promising youngster.

Liverpool weren’t outstanding but were still able to come back into the game and eventually take the lead.

Fabinho was a regular penalty taker for three seasons with Monaco, and took responsibility for the spot-kick that gave Liverpool the lead after Ethan Ebanks-Landell handled Andy Robertson’s free-kick.

Bradley was involved again for the third, crossing from the byline for Konate whose slightly scuffed shot fell to Firmino.

The substitute was facing his own goal so chose to back-heel from close range before another from Fabinho in injury time sealed the win.
