MORE than 2,000 jobs face the axe at Tesco after the profitable supermarket chain announced sweeping changes to the way it runs stores today.

Britain’s largest grocer said it was planning to slash 1,750 team manager posts at hundreds of its larger supermarkets, while closing roles elsewhere.

A new tier of 1,800 lower-paid shift leaders will take over running shop floors.
