Petition demanding fair pay for nurses signed by 100,000 people
A petition signed by 100,000 members of the public, nursing staff and patients is delivered to 10 Downing Street in London calling on Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to pay nursing staff fairly. Picture date: Thursday February 2, 2023.

A PETITION signed by 100,000 people demanding fair pay for nurses was delivered to 10 Downing Street today.

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) said that the move, which coincided with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s 100th day in office, would increase pressure on ministers to act.

Ahead of what could be the biggest-ever NHS strike on Monday, the union warned that many more patients have been forced to wait over 12 hours for A&E treatment since the former chancellor replaced Liz Truss in Downing Street in late October.
