BRITAIN is pessimistic, distrustful of government and disdainful of politicians, new research published today reveals.
Three-quarters of people told communications firm Edelman’s annual “trust barometer” that the country is heading in the wrong direction — the highest figure since the survey started in 2001.
For the first time in nearly a decade, a majority said they expect their living standards to worsen over the next year, while less than a quarter think their situation will improve before 2028.
