Two thirds of the public do not believe Johnson’s partygate defence, polling suggests

MORE than two-thirds of the public do not believe Boris Johnson’s version of events amid the “partygate” scandal, a new poll published today reveals.

The disgraced Tory ex-prime minister repeated his claims that gatherings which took place during Covid-19 lockdowns in Downing Street were “essential for work gatherings” in a feisty hearing before MPs on Wednesday.

But 68 per cent of the more than 1,000 adults surveyed by Survation after the much-anticipated privileges committee meeting thought the west London MP was being dishonest.
