No preconditions to talks, say junior doctors after Tory minister says strikes must be suspended

STRIKING junior doctors reminded the Tory government that they have “no preconditions for talks” today after a minister said the British Medical Association (BMA) must suspend all walkouts to get an invite to the negotiating table.
Home Office minister Chris Philp claimed proposed discussions via conciliation service Acas could only take place if the union halts “extremely damaging strike action.”
The inflammatory intervention came as a four-day walkout over plummeting take-home pay and “battlefield-like” working conditions for junior doctors in the austerity-hit NHS continued.
