HUNDREDS of women council workers in Brighton and Hove are set to receive a pay boost which will see them earn as much as their male colleagues following a decade-long campaign by their union, Unison.

The landmark deal, which will also see the 800 staff receive a settlement of up to £2,000 each, brings a “historic inequality to an end,” the union said.

The disparity began in 2013 when a special bank holiday payment — the resident’s services guarantee (RSG) — was negotiated for refuse and recycling workers.
