Scottish and British governments must collaborate on human rights, say commissioners
THE Scottish and British governments have been advised to work together on human rights law.
The call from the Scottish Human Rights Commission (SHRC) follows attempts to incorporate the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) into Scottish law were rebuffed by the Supreme Court in 2021 as beyond its “legal competence.”
But now, in a consultation response on a redrafted bill, the SHRC has demanded both UK and Scottish governments work together to ensure its success.
