Activists hold Palestine solidarity protests across Britain
People take part in a protest opposite the Israeli ambassadors residence in Swiss Cottage, as part of the Stop the War Coalition's Day of Action for Palestine, in London, December 16, 2023

ALMOST 60 protests in support of Palestine took place across Britain at the weekend as activists prepared for a global day of action today demanding a ceasefire in Gaza.

From Aberdeen to Abergavenny, Birmingham to Bristol and Carlisle to Coventry protesters on Saturday and Sunday marched, rallied and mounted vigils.

Targets included branches of Barclays bank over its financial involvement in firms arming Israel and the constituency offices of MPs who voted against a ceasefire.
