Palestine Action protest council's failure to evict an Israeli arms manufacturer

PALESTINE supporters left a council headquarters with smashed windows and covered in red paint in protest at its failure to evict an Israeli arms manufacturer.

Volunteers from Palestine Action mounted the attack on Somerset Council’s County Hall building in Taunton on Monday.

Palestine Action said the council rents premises in Bristol to Elbit Systems, Israel’s biggest arms manufacturer, and had failed to implement a council vote to evict the company.

Elbit has four factories in Britain manufacturing arms for Israel, including weapons used in Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

A Palestine Action spokesperson said: “Somerset Council have ignored their democratically passed motion and have taken no further steps to remove Elbit from their premises.

“By leasing to the Israeli weapons maker, they’ve made the whole county complicit in the ongoing Gaza genocide.

“They may find our actions a rude awakening, but it pales in comparison to the bombs which are raining down on the Palestinian people every day — bombs made by the company leasing Somerset Council’s property.”
