MEN’S FOOTBALL: The German Bundesliga’s top two both enjoyed 5-1 wins in their last games before the winter break. Patrick Schick scored four as defending champions Bayer Leverkusen demolished Freiburg after league leaders Bayern Munich had crushed fourth-placed Leipzig. Harry Kane did not score or make an assist in Munich’s win. Eintracht Frankfurt remain third despite going down 3-1 at home to ten-man Mainz.

MEN’S BASKETBALL: Darius Garland netted 26 points as Cleveland Cavaliers saw off Philadelphia 126-99 to claim a 25th win in 29 games and maintain top spot in the NBA. Oklahoma City are their nearest challengers following a 105-99 victory over Orlando Magic with last year’s top dogs the Boston Celtics just two wins behind. The Celtics hit back to revenge Friday’s surprise home defeat with a comfortable 123-98 success in Chicago.

WOMEN’S RUGBY UNION: Reigning champions Gloucester-Hartpury inflicted a first defeat on Exeter after romping to a 41-12 bonus point win at Sandy Park on Saturday. The teams are now joint top of the English Premiership although Exeter have a game in hand. Saracens are a point further back in third following their 33-24 come from behind victory over Bristol and bottom club Sale slumped to a 7-50 defeat against Loughborough to remain without a point.
