WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Mathilde Dommenger top-scored with 17 points and picked up the Most Valuable Player award as the Caledonia Gladiators pulled off a big shock by beating Oaklands Wolves 61-59 in Sunday’s Betty Codona Trophy final. It’s the first piece of silverware won by the East Kilbride-based club. Oaklands were previously unbeaten this season and sit six points better off than Caledonia in the Super League with a game in hand.

MEN’S ICE HOCKEY: Belfast Giants claimed a 3-2 shoot-out win over Coventry before cruising to a 4-1 win in Cardiff that opened up their seven-point lead in the Elite League. Nottingham moved third with wins over Manchester and Guildford, who hit back by thumping defending champions Sheffield 6-2 on Sunday evening, while Coventry kept their faint title hopes alive with a 3-2 overtime win against Dundee, who had brushed aside Glasgow 6-2.

MEN’S CYCLING: Australian sprinter Sam Welsford won three stages at the Tour Down Under but it was Ecuador’s Jhonatan Narvaez who picked up the general classification victory after finishing nine seconds ahead of Javier Romo with Finn Fisher-Black third. Kelso-born Oscar Onley was the highest-placed Briton in fourth with last year’s winner Stephen Williams over eight minutes off the pace back in 53rd.
