MEN’S BASKETBALL: London Lions continued their miserable start to the season with a crushing 66-89 home loss to Leicester that effectively knocks them out of the Super League Trophy at the first stage.
Newcastle kept up their perfect start to the season with a 93-88 win over Caledonia, who hit back to edge out Manchester 87-91, Bristol beat Surrey 86-79 and Sheffield held on for a narrow 102-100 victory at the Cheshire Phoenix.
WOMEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Tries from Lacey Owen, Eboni Partington and Kelsey Gentles helped York Valkyrie come from 8-6 down at half time to beat St Helens 18-8 and become the first team to retain the Super League Grand Final title.
