SPEEDWAY: Chris Harris top-scored with 14 points as King’s Lynn earned a 50-40 victory over Sheffield in the Premiership on Monday evening. The win propels King’s Lynn into the top four play-off spots at the expense of last year’s champions Ipswich. Table-topping Belle Vue extended their lead to seven points after a superb all-round team performance saw them thump second-placed Sheffield 61-29.

MEN’S CRICKET: Ireland meet Afghanistan in the first leg of their five-match one-day series at Magheramason, County Tyrone on Wednesday. With only the hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe and the top eight ranked teams guaranteed places at next year’s World Cup, this series is crucial for Ireland’s hopes of making their fourth appearance at the finals. The Irish are currently twelfth in the world rankings, four places below Afghanistan.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Hearts are in Denmark this evening to face Lithuania’s Gintra in their Champions League second qualifying round semi-final tie. The winners will face either Koge or Riga for a place in the third qualifying round. Rangers have home advantage at the same stage of the competition when they take on Slavia Prague at Cumbernauld’s Broadwood Stadium. The winners of their tie will be up against Ajax or Brondby. 

MEN’S TENNIS: Cameron Norrie booked his place in the second round of the Canadian Open in Montreal with a 7-6 (5) 6-4 win over Argentina’s Camilo Ugo Carabelli on Tuesday. The British number two lost his serve in the opening game, the first of four successive breaks to start the match. Norrie won a 71-minute first set tie-break before breaking late in the second to seal victory in under two hours. He next meets Peru’s world number 33 Ignacio Buse.
