SPEEDWAY: Reigning champions Ipswich Witches continued their miserable defence of the Premiership title by slipping to a 48-42 defeat at lowly King’s Lynn on Monday night. 

Max Fricke and Ben Cook both bagged 9+1 points for King’s Lynn with Jody Scott, riding at number seven, weighing in with 7+3. Tobiasz Musielak top-scored with 12 for the Witches who are now 13 points behind league leaders Belle Vue.

WOMEN’S CRICKET: The One-Day Cup continues today with League One table-toppers The Blaze at Warwickshire and second-placed Hampshire taking on defending champions Lancashire in Southampton. 

It’s fifth against fourth when Somerset host Durham at Taunton and struggling Yorkshire are up against Surrey at Ampleforth College. 

Bottom club Essex, four points adrift of Yorkshire, are not in action during this round of matches.

HORSE RACING: Champion jockey Oisin Murphy enjoyed a narrow-priced double at Windsor on Monday evening but is still 15 winners adrift of Billy Loughnane in this year’s competition. 

Loughnane had failed to score from six rides at Brighton earlier in the day. Rossa Ryan is 25 winners further back in third place.
