WOMEN’S BOXING: Bray-born Katie Taylor brought her spectacular career to an end by comprehensively out-pointing France’s Flora Pili at a sold out Croke Park on Saturday night.

The 40-year-old, who was 2012 Olympic lightweight gold medallist and three-time undisputed world champion, finishes her career with a record of just one loss, to Chantelle Cameron, in 27 fights.

Pili suffered her first defeat in 13 bouts.

WHEELCHAIR RUGBY LEAGUE: Defending champions Halifax won 36-30 at London Roosters to seal the regular season Super League title.

The two teams will meet again in next week’s Grand Final semi-finals.

Leeds beat Wigan 50-34 to finish runners-up and will have home advantage over the same opponents in the other last-four clash.

Bottom-of-the-table Bradford lost 42-70 at home to Edinburgh and Sheffield enjoyed a 72-52 victory in Hull.

MEN’S RUGBY UNION: South Africa came from 12-5 down to beat New Zealand 29-24 in Nasrec on Saturday and take a 2-1 lead in their four-match series.

The fourth Test takes place in Baltimore, US, next weekend. Australia won their series with Argentina 1-0 after drawing the second test 28-28.

A late Wallabies penalty try levelled the scores when Argentina were down to 13 players after Lucio Cinti and Santiago Carreras had been sinbinned.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Rhys Hughes bundled home the only goal of the game in the 88th minute as The New Saints beat Barry
Town 1-0 in Saturday’s top of the Cymru Premier clash.

TNS lead the league by a point with Connah’s Quay three points back in third after their 1-1 draw with Haverfordwest.

At the other end of the table bottom club Holywell Town gained their first point of the season in a 1-1 draw at home to Trefilin.
