At least 2,106 land and environmental defenders killed worldwide since 2012, says new report

MORE than 2,000 land and environmental defenders were killed between 2012 and 2023, according to a damning report released by Global Witness today.

This year alone some 196 defenders have been killed trying to protect their homes, community or the planet.

At least 2,106 have been murdered in total during the recorded 11-year period.
