PALESTINE: Israeli troops killed a Palestinian and seriously wounded four in Nablus in the illegally occupied West Bank today.

Nayef Firas Ziad Samaro’s wife was giving birth in hospital when his body was brought to the same building.

Israel said soldiers were responding to “terrorists” throwing stones.

CHINA: The Foreign Ministry marked the 80th anniversary of the start of the Tokyo trials today by warning that “spectre of Japanese militarism still remains and continues to breed.”

Beijing condemned the Japanese government’s rearmament and revisionism denying wartime atrocities including in school textbooks.

“Along with the Nuremberg Trials, the Tokyo Trials nailed the fascist war criminals to the eternal pillar of shame,” it said, adding that distorting the historical record would lead to “future disasters.”

SUDAN: At least five people were killed in a drone attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the outskirts of Khartoum on Saturday.

The attack was logged by Emergency Lawyers, which records attacks on civilians in the civil war between the RSF and the ruling Sudanese military, which has lasted over three years.

GERMANY: The United States will reduce its military presence by much more than the already announced withdrawal of 5,000 soldiers, President Donald Trump said on Saturday.

“We’re going to cut way down… a lot further than 5,000,” he said. There are almost 40,000 US troops in Germany.

Some paint the withdrawal as revenge for German Chancellor Friedrich Merz saying the US had been “humiliated” in Iran, though Berlin and Washington deny any link.
