US President Trump’s sanctions threat appears to have little to no effect on Moscow

TURKEY: A Turkish court ordered a ban today on access to Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence chatbot Grok from Turkey, after the platform allegedly disseminated content insulting to Turkey’s president and others.
The chatbot, developed by Mr Musk’s company xAI, posted vulgarities against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, his late mother and others, while responding to users’ questions on the X social media platform. Offensive responses were also directed toward modern Turkey’s founder, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
RUSSIA: Europe’s top human rights court delivered two rulings against Russia today, stating in the first ruling that Russia violated international law during the conflict in Ukraine, the first time an international court has found Moscow responsible for human rights abuses since the full-scale invasion in 2022.
The court also ruled Russia was behind the downing of Flight MH17 in 2014, which claimed 298 lives.
GREECE: Greece’s government said today it is temporarily suspending asylum applications for migrants arriving on the island of Crete, following the arrival of more than 2,000 migrants since the weekend.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said the government also planned to build a detention site on Crete for migrants.
INDIA: At least nine people were killed after a bridge over a river collapsed in India’s western Gujarat state today, news agency Press Trust of India reported.
Gujarat’s Health Minister Rushikesh Patel said several vehicles were on the bridge when a portion of it collapsed, sending many into the river. He said at least five people were rescued.
The incident occurred in Gujarat’s Vadodara district, which has witnessed heavy rains over the past few days.
