DRONE ATTACK: Sudan’s paramilitary forces killed at least 10 people on Thursday in a drone attack that hit a hospital in the south-central part of the country, said a medical group.

Doctors Without Borders said that the Sudanese paramilitary Rapid Support Forces launched two drone strikes on al-Jabalain Hospital in the White Nile province, hitting an operating theatre and a maternity ward.

CONGO: Rebels affiliated with the Islamic State group killed at least 43 people in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, officials said on Thursday.

Fighters with the Allied Democratic Forces killed the civilians on Wednesday night in Bafwakoa village. The Ugandan Islamist group operates on both sides of the border.

“They set fire to houses in the village,” Samuel Banapia, a member of civil society in the area, said by phone.

LGBT RIGHTS: The Belarus parliament passed a Bill on Thursday to introduce punishments for people who promote LGBT causes.

The upper house gave final approval for the legislation following its passage last month by the lower house and it goes next to President Alexander Lukashenko for his expected signature before becoming law.

The Bill makes the “propaganda of homosexual relations, gender change, refusal to have children and paedophilia” punishable by fines, community labour and 15-day arrest.

INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT: The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) can potentially resume his duties, a three-judge panel said, after rejecting a United Nations investigation of alleged sexual misconduct with a female aide.

A final decision on the fate of British barrister Karim Khan is now up to the Assembly of States Parties, the body that oversees the ICC. He has alleged that the accusations are linked to his pursuit of Israeli leaders for war crimes.
