MEXICO: The bodies of a human rights activist and her husband have been found, six months after they went missing.

Estefana Dominguez Martinez, a lawyer, feminist activist and defender of the Mixe indigenous peoples, and husband Alexander Hernandez Hernandez were found on Thursday in Veracruz state.

She had received threats after denouncing Oaxaca state officials for having misogynistic group chats.

IRAN: Firefighters have finally extinguished the flames at the southern port of Shahid Rajaei, which had been on fire since a massive explosion on Saturday, as the death toll rose to at least 70.

The port reportedly took in a chemical component needed for solid fuel for ballistic missiles, something denied by the authorities, though they have failed to explain what caused the extensive destruction at the port near Bandar Abbas.

SUDAN: The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group has killed at least 30 people in an attack on Omdurman, the sister city of the capital Khartoum, the authorities and activist group the Resistance Committees said on Monday.

The Resistance Committees accused the RSF of kidnapped dozens of people, including women, from the Salha area in the south of Omdurman on Sunday as the Sudanese civil war continues to destroy lives.

CHINA: Twenty-two people have been killed and three injured by a fire at restaurant in the northern city of Liaoyan, officials said today.

No word was given on the cause of the blaze, which broke out shortly after noon, but industrial accidents are frequent in China, usually due to staff ignoring safety measures due to a lack of training or pressure from their bosses.
