Israeli protesters hold ‘national day of disruption’ against far-right government's plans to overhaul judicial system
Police scuffle with Israelis blocking a main road to protest against plans by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's new government to overhaul the judicial system, in Tel Aviv, Israel, Wednesday, March 1, 2023.

ISRAELIS protesting against government plans to overhaul the judicial system held “national disruption day” today, blocking roads and highways and clashing with police.

The demonstrations come as the country’s far-right government barrels ahead with the legal changes. A parliamentary committee was moving forward on a Bill today that would weaken the Supreme Court.

The crisis has sent shock waves through Israel and presented Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with a serious challenge just two months after he returned to power.
