University rector 'vindicated' on Gaza solidarity
A general view of the Sports Department at the University of St Andrews

THE rector of Scotland oldest university who was barred from its governing body last year for speaking out against Israel’s genocide in Gaza celebrated her “vindication” today after the decision was overturned.

Stella Maris was removed from her role as trustee and President of the Court of St Andrews University after issuing a statement condemning Israel’s “genocidal attacks” on the people of Gaza.

Ray Perman, chairman of the university court, said at the time that she was “in serious and persistent breach of her responsibilities.”
