Trump clashes with media after White House revokes pass of CNN's Acosta
President Donald Trump looks on as a White House aide takes away a microphone from CNN journalist Jim Acosta during a news conference

PRESS freedom came under attack in the US today after the White House revoked the pass of a CNN correspondent who clashed with President Donald Trump in a post-midterm elections press conference.

Jim Acosta was stopped by security at the gates of the White House as he tried to re-enter the grounds for a live broadcast for the US news channel.

He shared video footage of him handing over his “hard pass” — granted to reporters who regularly cover White House events to ease entry into the grounds — to an officer who said he had been instructed to take it by the White House.
