Strike Map expands coverage with new data on union strength

A WORKER-POWERED tool tracking industrial action across the country expanded its coverage today by adding new data on union strength.

The Strike Map platform has joined forces with UnionMaps, developed by the Wales Institute of Social and Economic Research and Data (WISERD), to provide detailed insights on areas experiencing industrial action.

The new insights will include percentages for collective agreements, union membership, and overall union presence.

Strike Map co-founder Henry Fowler said: “We are delighted to be able to add this new data to our map so that hundreds of thousands of our supporters can understand the strength and power of their local  trade union movement in areas where strikes are taking place.”

WISERD co-director Rhys Davies said: “We are very pleased that this data has been integrated into Strike Map to support the work of volunteers and trade union activists who will now have access to detailed statistics about the strength of the union movement in areas where industrial action is taking place to inform their work.”
