ANTI-WAR campaigners in Wales have condemned the “unprovoked military attack” on Iran at their annual general meeting on Saturday.
Stop The War (STW) Cymru said the US and Israeli strikes come as Iran had just agreed not to stockpile enriched uranium, effectively preventing nuclear weapons development, following longstanding negotiations.
The previous 2015 agreement was broken by US President Donald Trump in 2018, and sanctions were imposed.
But with unilateral attacks, the US has “chosen war instead of a negotiated agreement,” STW Cymru said.
“Neither does Israel want agreement with Iran. An Israeli spokesman declared [on Saturday] that its people would prefer war with Iran than have a settlement.
“This is consistent with over two years of genocidal attacks on Palestinians by Israel.
“It has been reported that the British government will support the US in ‘defensive’ measures against Iran, by facilitating refuelling and military operations if Iran were to retaliate.”
The group warned that there is “a clear risk of escalation, including the possible use of Israeli nuclear weapons,” adding: “We call on the Wales Senedd and UK Parliament to condemn this attack, demand it cease, and provide no political or material support.”
In part one of two articles, STEVE BISHOP exposes blatant lies of the warmongers who demand ‘unconditional surrender’ from Iran using the excuse of nuclear weapons, when it is Israel that blatantly disregards international law
