PRIME MINISTER Sir Keir Starmer’s rolling relaunch of his floundering government turned to television today with a party political broadcast pledge that 2026 would see the start of improvements.
Labour’s first broadcast of the year saw Sir Keir promise that the government would focus on “renewal, not grievance.”
In the Commons, he claimed that he was “turning the country around,” as he fights off persistent speculation that desperate Labour MPs are ready to move to replace him.
In the party political broadcast, the Prime Minister claimed that, “this year, you will start to feel the benefit of Labour’s decisions in your community.”
Painting a picture of the country that few will recognise, the broadcast showcased new homes being built, more police on the streets and nurseries expanding access to childcare.
It also highlighted progress on reducing NHS waiting times, immigration and child poverty, with promises of more to come, including a higher minimum wage, a rail fares freeze and cuts to energy bills.
Sir Keir said: “When we choose renewal, not grievance, when we show that our problems can be solved and that the future is in our control, then the real Britain can shine through.
“A Britain of boundless creativity, of pride and grit … a Britain that has always weathered the storms of history.”
In the Commons, Sir Keir focused relentlessly on attacking Reform and its leader Nigel Farage, as they continue to enjoy a significant opinion poll lead over Labour.
