MEN’S RUGBY UNION: South Africa scored seven tries as they cruised to a 48-7 win over Argentina that sealed their first Rugby Championship trophy in five years.

The Springboks have dominated this year’s competition and finished eight points clear of runners up New Zealand who had been chasing a fifth successive title.

The All Blacks consigned Australia to the tournament’s wooden spoon after beating them 33-13 in Wellington.

ICE HOCKEY: Manchester Storm forward Loren Ulett has received a three game ban for slashing, hitting an opponent with his stick, during their 6-5 overtime Challenge Cup win at Cardiff.

Ulett slashed Cardiff’s Ryan Barrow after he had fallen to the ice and then continued to hit him despite the match officials attempts at restraint.

In his absence Manchester lost 7-3 at home to Belfast in Saturday’s Elite League fixture.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Shelbourne can take a big step towards their first League of Ireland title since 2006 with a win against St Patrick’s in tonight’s Dublin’s Luas derby.

Shelbourne are four points clear of Derry, who suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat at struggling Drogheda, and a further point ahead of four-time defending champions Shamrock Rovers and Galway.

St Patrick’s romped to a 3-0 win at the Shamrocks on Friday night.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Warrington set up a Super League play-off semi final against Hull KR after George Williams’s golden point drop goal sealed their narrow 23-22 win over St Helens on Saturday.

Leigh, who had not previously reached the last four, will take on defending champions Wigan after overcoming Salford 14-6.

Wigan topped the table by two points from Hull KR during the regular season with Leigh 11 points back in fifth.
