Luke Humphries celebrates victory against Luke Littler in the final on night fourteen of the Premier League at Leeds Arena, Leeds, May 8, 2025

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Notts County host AFC Wimbledon in the first leg of their League Two promotion play-off semi-final on Saturday evening, before Chesterfield meet Walsall in the other last four clash on Sunday.

The Wombles finished a point above Notts County in the regular season, while Walsall, who missed out on promotion after leading the table for much of the season, were seven points clear of Chesterfield.

RUGBY LEAGUE: It’s Challenge Cup semi-final weekend, with the men’s competition pitting Super League leaders Hull KR against Catalans Dragons and last year’s runners-up Warrington taking on 2023 champions Leigh.

Neither Hull KR nor the Catalans have won the trophy before. In the women’s game Leeds, runners-up for the last three seasons, face Wigan before four-time defending champions St Helens play York Valkyrie on Sunday.

DARTS: Luke Humphries beat Luke Littler 6-5 in Thursday night’s final of the Premier League’s 14th round in Leeds, but Littler still enjoys a seven-point lead over him in the overall table.

Gerwyn Price is a further seven points back in third with Michael van Gerwen remaining fourth despite losing to Humphries in his first match.

Littler will meet Humphries in the first match of next week’s 15th round in Aberdeen.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: East Kilbride’s Caledonia Gladiators make the long journey to St Albans on Saturday to take on Super League champions Oaklands Wolves in their play-off semi-final clash.

The Wolves were unbeaten at home during the regular season, but narrowly lost out to the Gladiators in the Betty Codona Trophy final.

Sheffield have home advantage over Newcastle in the other last four fixture on Sunday afternoon.
