MEN’S FOOTBALL: The English Championship play-offs get underway tonight when Hull City meet Millwall in the first leg of their semi-final.

The south-east Londoners, who last played in England’s top tier in 1996, only missed out on automatic promotion by a point, finishing 10 points clear of Hull.

The second semi-final takes place on Saturday when Southampton, who came down from the Premier League last year, face Middlesborough.

MEN’S CYCLING: The 109th Giro D’Italia rolls out of Bulgaria’s Black Sea resort of Nesebar tomorrow with Denmark’s Jonas Vingegaard a strong favourite to win the general classification.

The start list is missing 2025’s champion Simon Yates, who retired at the end of last season, world champion Tadej Pogacar, Remco Evenepoel and many other big names.

Adam Yates, James Shaw, Ethan Vernon and James Knox are the four British riders taking part.

MEN’S RUGBY UNION: Only three points separate the top four teams in the United Rugby Championship before the latest round of matches kick off tomorrow evening.

Table-topping Cape Town Stormers are seeking their first ever win in Belfast when they face Ulster while Glasgow, a point off the pace in second, host Cardiff.

It’s third against fourth on Saturday when Johannesburg Lions travel to take on defending champions Leinster.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Ivan Toney tops the Saudi Arabian Professional League goalscorers list again after bagging another hat-trick in Al Ahli’s 3-1 win over Al Fateh.

Toney, who last played for England a year ago, has scored 31 goals this season, one more than Mexico’s Julian Quinones and five clear of 41-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo.

Al-Ahli sit third in the table, seven points behind Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr and five adrift of second-placed Al Hilal.
