HORSE RACING: There will be no more racing at Cheltenham this national hunt season after it was announced that an immediate large-scale upgrade to its drainage system will be carried out.
A broken drain caused a long delay and re-routing of the final race at the course’s January meeting.
Four of the races from Cheltenham’s scheduled two-day April meeting have already been transferred to Warwick, Market Rasen and Sandown.
MEN’S BASKETBALL: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander sank another huge 47 points as NBA table-toppers and defending champions Oklahoma City needed overtime to edge past Eastern Conference leaders Detroit Pistons 114-110.
Both teams are already guaranteed a spot in the upcoming end of season play-offs.
Victor Wembanyana netted 41 points as the San Antonio Spurs, also assured of play-off action, eased past eliminated Chicago 129-114.
SPEEDWAY: British top-tier speedway action resumed in Manchester on Monday night with the Belle Vue Aces squeezing past Sheffield Tigers 48-42 in a Premiership Knockout Cup (northern section) fixture.
Belle Vue captain Brady Kurtz top-scored with 12 points while team-mates Dan Bewley weighed in with 11+1 and Tate Zischke bagged 10+2.
The teams meet in the return fixture at Owlerton on Thursday night.
WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: The Champions League quarter-final second legs kick off tomorrow evening with Manchester United 3-2 down when they travel to Bayern Munich, where no English club has previously won a Champions League game.
Tonight’s other fixture has reigning champions Arsenal taking a 3-1 lead to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Thursday’s matches see Barcelona 6-2 clear off Real Madrid and Wolfsburg 1-0 up on Lyon.
