HORSE RACING: Constitution Hill continued his successful transition to flat racing after the former three-time Champion Hurdle winner coasted home in a 12-furlong novice stakes race at Kempton’s all-weather track on Wednesday evening.
Despite carrying top weight, Constitution Hill came from off the pace in the home straight, without jockey Ryan Moore using the whip, to earn a two-length win over Classical Allusion.
MEN’S RUGBY UNION: Table-topping Glasgow host Treviso as United Rugby Championship action resumes tomorrow evening. The Scots have won 10 of their last 11 games in all competitions.
Defending champions Leinster, who currently sit fourth, nine points behind Glasgow, take on the Scarlets in Dublin while Cardiff visit the Durban Sharks in tonight’s other fixture.
Second-placed Cape Town Stormers face Edinburgh on Saturday evening.
WOMEN’S SKIING: Colorado-born Mikaela Shiffrin won her sixth World Cup title in Lillehammer on Wednesday to equal the record that Austria’s Annemarie Moser-Proll’s had set in 1979.
Shiffrin also picked up her third Olympic gold medal this year and is the only alpine skier to have gained over 100 event victories.
Germany’s Emma Aicher finished as runner-up, just 87 points behind Shiffrin, after winning the season’s giant slalom finale.
MEN’S FOOTBALL: Brora Rangers have a five-point lead in the Highland League after Brechin City drew 0-0 with Formartine United in Wednesday’s clash between second and third place.
Brechin have one game in hand over Brora. Bottom-of-the-table Rothes slumped to another loss, 5-1 at home to Clachnacuddin, Strathspey won 2-0 at Keith, Wick went down 3-1 at home to Forres Mechanics and Huntly won 2-1 in Turriff.
