MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Tara Jones will become the first women to referee a men’s Super League fixture when she takes charge of Saturday’s top against bottom clash between Wigan and Huddersfield.
She was the first female on-field official at a Super League game back in 2018 but only retired from her playing career with St Helens in 2024 to concentrate on refereeing.
Jones became an MBE in 2026’s New Year’s honours list.
WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: The Champions League quarter final first legs continue tomorrow evening with three-time winners Barcelona at Real Madrid in the early kick off before tournament debutants Manchester United host Bayern Munich at Old Trafford.
United have not previously played the German champions.
Barcelona beat Madrid twice in 2022’s quarter finals with a then record crowd of over 91,000 watching the second leg at Camp Nou.
