MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Las Vegas hosts the kick off for Australia’s new NRL season in the early hours of Sunday morning when the competition’s most successful club, South Sydney Roosters face Manly Warringah at the fully enclosed, climate-controlled Allegiant Stadium.

Three-time champions Penrith do not begin their campaign until next weekend.

DARTS: Table-topping Michael van Gerwen lost 6-3 to current world champion Luke Humphries in the first round of Thursday’s Premier League of Darts in Exeter as Nathan Aspinall claimed his first success of the season, edging out Humphries 6-5 in the last four before beating Rob Cross 6-2 in the final.
