MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: New South Wales centre Joseph Suaalii was sent off in the eighth minute of this year’s first State of Origin match as they slumped to a 38-10 defeat against Queensland in Sydney.

Suaalii is only the sixth player in State of Origin history to be sent off and has already received a four-game ban after his reckless high tackle had knocked out Queensland’s full back Reece Walsh.

The Ospreys are the first Welsh club in six years to reach the end-of-season play-offs.

Pretoria’s Bulls host Treviso, Leinster are up against Ulster and Glasgow welcome Cape Town’s Stormers to Scotstoun on Saturday in the other last eight matches.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: AC Milan’s Francesco Camarda scored twice as Italy beat Portugal 3-0 to win the Under-17s Euros final in Limassol on Wednesday.

Camarda, who became the youngest-ever debutant in Serie A last November, was named player of the tournament with Portugal’s Rodrigo Mora the competition’s leading scorer on five goals.

The Italians kept four cleans sheets and conceded only twice in their six games at the finals.

MEN’S BASKETBALL: Dallas Mavericks are at the Boston Celtics tomorrow morning for the first leg of their seven match NBA Grand Final series.

Boston were runaway winners of the Eastern Conference, winning 37 of their 41 home games, whereas Dallas finished a distant fifth in the west.
