Leeds' Lachie Miller catches the ball during the 2026 Super League match at Headingley Rugby Stadium, Leeds, April 24, 2026

MEN’S GOLF: Defending US Open champion JJ Spaun tees off with world number one Scottie Scheffler, who has yet to win this title, and amateur Mason Howell when this year’s tournament starts in Southampton, New York, on Thursday morning.

Scotland’s Robert Macintyre, 2025’s runner-up, will partner Nicolai Hojgaard and Nicolas Echavarria while Rory McIlroy plays his opening rounds with Ryder Cup team-mates Tommy Fleetwood and Ludvig Aaberg.

HORSE RACING: French jockey Christophe Soumillon received an eight-day ban at Royal Ascot on Tuesday after being found guilty of attempting to assist a stable-mate in the St James’s Palace Stakes.

He failed and the Group One race was won by the George Boughey-trained Bow Echo who, in a repeat of the placings at last month’s 2,000 Guineas, came home a short-head clear of Gstaad, extending his unbeaten record to five starts.

WOMEN’S CRICKET: Scotland follow up their opening World Cup win over Ireland with tomorrow’s game against the West Indies at Headingley.

The Windies beat defending champions New Zealand by seven wickets with just a ball to spare in their first match.

The Kiwis are now on the verge of crashing out of the competition following Tuesday’s five-wicket loss to Sri Lanka and must win tomorrow’s game against Ireland in Southampton.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Full-back Lachie Miller returns from suspension as table-topping Leeds travel to second-placed Warrington in tomorrow evening’s Super League fixture.

The teams are level on points, four clear of third-placed defending champions Hull KR, but Warrington, on a six-match unbeaten run, have a game in hand.

Leeds have won their last three games. Hull KR are not in action until Friday night when they play Leigh.
