MEN’S FOOTBALL: Canada beat Venezuela on penalties after a 1-1 draw to set up tomorrow’s first Copa America semi final against defending champions Argentina. Colombia thumped Panama 5-0 to make it through to the last four where they will meet 15-time winners Uruguay. Marcelo Bielsa’s team also needed penalties to overcome Brazil after a 0-0 draw on Sunday despite having Nahitan Nandez sent off in the second half.

MEN’S RUGBY UNION: World Champions South Africa battled to a narrow 27-20 win over Ireland in Pretoria on Saturday while New Zealand scraped past England 16-15 in Dunedin. Australia completed a clean sweep for the southern hemisphere nations when they saw off Wales 25-16 in Sydney. Scotland romped to an 11-try 73-12 win in Canada and an inexperienced French team with eight debutants saw off Argentina 28-13 in Mendoza.

MEN’S BOXING: Romford’s heavyweight prospect Johnny Fisher took less than a minute of the first round to knock out Croatian Alen Babic in front of a 7,000 crowd at the Copper Box Arena in London on Saturday night. Making his first ever headline performance Fisher, who was named Britain’s best young boxer in 2023, improved his professional record to 12 wins and no losses, extending his knock-out streak to seven bouts.
