WOMEN’S RUGBY UNION: New Zealand defended their Olympic Sevens title on Tuesday evening after coming back from 12-7 down at half-time to beat Canada 19-12.

The USA edged out Australia 14-12 to take the bronze medal while Britain finished seventh after beating Ireland 28-12.

Australia’s Maddison Levi was the tournament’s top points-scorer after running in 14 tries, just two less than Canada managed in their six games.
