SPEEDWAY: Ipswich lost their first home game of the season and slipped from the top of the Premiership after they were mauled 54-36 by the Leicester Lions on Thursday night.

Chris Holder top-scored with 14 points from six rides as new league leaders Sheffield cruised past bottom club Birmingham 55-35 and Oxford maintained their slim play-off hopes after leading from the first tape to crush King’s Lynn 54-36.

CYCLING: Three-time champion Primoz Roglic is among the favourites for the red jersey as the Vuelta a Espana rolls out of Lisbon on Saturday afternoon.
