MEN’S HOCKEY:
Ireland get another chance to break their duck at the Pro League tournament in India when they play Spain on Saturday lunchtime.
The Irish have lost all six of their games including a 4-2 defeat at the hands of the Spanish last week.
Australia, the only team with a 100 per cent record, face India this afternoon and the Netherlands tomorrow.
Ireland play India in their last match on Sunday.
MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE:
Reigning Super League champions Wigan face Penrith, the best team in Australia, for the World Cup Challenge in front of a sell-out crowd at Loire Drive tomorrow evening.
Penrith have never won the trophy, but Wigan have picked up the silverware on four previous occasions. Two former winners, Bradford and Widnes, who are no longer in the Super League, meet in the Challenge Cup fourth round on Sunday afternoon.
MEN’S FOOTBALL:
It’s top against bottom in Scottish League Two when runaway table-toppers Stenhousemuir welcome Clyde to Ochilview Park on Saturday afternoon.
Stenhousemuir have only lost twice all season, Clyde have only won three times.
Second-placed Peterhead, who are 15 points behind the league leaders, face Elgin, Dumbarton host Stranraer, Bonnyrigg Rose are at The Spartans and its sixth against seventh when East Fife meet Forfar.
DARTS:
Michael van Gerwen won his third successive round of the Premier League of Darts after beating Nathan Aspinall 6-4 in Thursday night’s final in Newcastle.
Van Gerwen is now eight points clear of Michael Smith and Luke Littler in the table, while Peter Wright is yet to win a game and sits bottom, four points adrift of Aspinall.
The fifth round of this 17-week tournament takes place in Exeter next Thursday.
