SNP blames Starmer for rising food costs

VOTERS are paying the price for the soaring cost of living under Sir Keir Starmer, nationalists said today.

Food inflation soared to 3.3 per cent in December, with fresh food inflation even higher at 3.8 per cent, latest data from the British Retail Consortium (BRC) revealed.

Scottish National Party economy spokesman Dave Doogan, MP, said: “This is more bad news on the soaring cost of living under Keir Starmer, which once again means families are paying the price for Labour Party failure.

“Keir Starmer has been worse than useless and should go before he does any more damage.”

BRC chief executive Helen Dickinson said: “Shop price inflation edged up in December as food prices rose at a faster rate.”

The news of rising food prices came a day after the Prime Minister claimed Britain had “turned a corner” on the cost of living.
