MEN’S FOOTBALL: Hearts needed Kenneth Vargas’ 86th-minute goal to edge out Championship side Greenock Morton 1-0 on Monday night and set up a Scottish Cup semi-final clash with Rangers.

Hearts lost 2-0 to Rangers in the 2022 final, were thrashed 5-0 by them in the Scottish Premiership just three weeks ago and lost a league Cup semi-final to the Gers in November. Aberdeen take on holders Celtic in the other semi.

TENNIS: 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu lost in straight sets (6-3, 7-5) to world number two Aryna Sabalenka in the third round of the Indian Wells tournament late on Monday night. Raducanu is currently ranked 250th in the world.

In the men’s draw 2021 winner Cameron Norrie narrowly went down 6-7 (7-5), 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 to Gael Monfils, in a match that lasted more than three hours.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: 1987’s Challenge Cup winners Halifax have drawn a plum home tie with the Catalans Dragons in this year’s sixth round.

Other last-16 ties include holders Leigh taking on Featherstone, Hull KR against Salford and London travelling to Warrington.

Sheffield are up against Wigan, the Super League’s only unbeaten team, Leeds meet St Helens, Huddersfield play Hull FC and Batley from the Championship against Castleford.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: The pick of Wednesday night’s Highland League fixtures sees second-placed Banks o’Dee travel to face a Buckie Thistle team who sit just seven points below them but with five games in hand.

Table-topping Brechin City are at lowly Forres Mechanics, who haven’t won in their last five outings, Brora Rangers visit Nairn and bottom-of-the-table Strathspey welcome Wick to Seafield Park in tomorrow evening’s other games.
