BOXING: Britain’s Chris Billam-Smith lost his WBO cruiserweight title by a unanimous points decision to WBA champion Gilberto Ramirez in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night.

Mexican Ramirez has lost just once, to Dmitry Bivol, in 48 career bouts. On the undercard Californian Arnold Barboza maintained his 31-fight unbeaten record with a comfortable points victory over Jose Ramirez in a non-title welterweight fight.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Cuba are 2-1 down when they face St Kitts and Nevis for the second leg of their Concacaf Gold Cup qualifier in Santiago de Cuba on Monday evening.

Cardiff’s Romaine Sawyers opened the scoring for St Kitts and Nevis in the first leg before Andre Burley, who plays for Oxford City in National League North, bagged the winner.

St Kitts and Nevis are ranked 143rd in the world, 23 places above Cuba.

MEN’S BASKETBALL: Cleveland Cavaliers set a club record after Donovan Mitchell netted 37 points in a 144-126 thumping of Chicago that extended their winning start to 14 games in the new NBA season.

Defending champions Boston Celtics needed overtime to edge out the Toronto Raptors on Sunday morning.

The Raptors now have the worst record in the 30-team competition.

Cleveland are next in action when they visit Boston on Wednesday.

MEN’S CRICKET: Australia are 2-0 up in their three-match Twenty20 series when they face Pakistan in Tasmania tomorrow morning.

After winning the rain-shortened first game by 29 runs, Spencer Jordan took 5-26 as the Aussies gained a 13-run victory in Sydney on Saturday.

Only three Pakistani batsmen reached double figures in their failed pursuit of 148.

Australia are ranked second in the short-format world rankings, five places above Pakistan.
