THE government is urgently seeking information on reports that a number of UK-Iranian dual nationals have been detained in Iran, Downing Street said today.
It comes after the Iranian Revolutionary Guard claimed that it arrested seven individuals with “direct links” to Britain over their alleged involvement in anti-government protests.
A No 10 spokesman rejected Iranian claims that Britain has been involved in “inciting” riots in the country and called on the regime to end its practice of holding foreign nationals for “diplomatic leverage.
