BOXING
Lawrence Okolie’s unbeaten record and WBO Cruiserweight title are on the line against New Zealander David Bright in tomorrow night’s headline bout in Manchester.
London-born Okolie has defended his title twice, won 14 of his 18 fights by knockout and enters the fight as a heavy favourite despite not having fought since February 2022 due to management contract disputes.
Bright, the mandatory challenger, is unbeaten in 20 fights.
MEN’S CRICKET
Zimbabwe meet the Netherlands in Harare tomorrow for the deciding leg of their three match one-day series after the Dutch fell to a one run defeat on Thursday.
The Netherlands had been cruising towards the Zimbabwean total of 271 until off-spinner Wesley Madhevere bagged a hat-trick in the 44th over and needing four to win off the last ball Ryan Klein was run out whilst attempting to tie the scores.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
London Lions hit back from their midweek 84-89 loss to Turk Telecom Ankara in the EuroCup by thumping Newcastle 100-69 to move 10 points clear in the British Basketball League, with a game in hand over second-placed Bristol.
In a strong all-round team performance Vojtech Hruban top-scored for the Londoners with 19 points and Luke Nelson bagged 17 whilst Darius Defoe hit 22 for Newcastle.
