RMT suspended planned strike action due to take place today and Monday by Rail Gourmet workers on TransPennine Express contracts.
The walk-outs were halted following progress on disciplinary issues, the rail union said.
Members had voted overwhelmingly for industrial action, accusing Rail Gourmet of breaching its own disciplinary procedures and failing to provide formal notifications and outcomes.
But RMT says that after meaningful discussions, the firm has committed to providing refresher training for managers and team leaders on disciplinary, grievance, bullying, and harassment procedures.
It also agreed to ensure disciplinary transparency and provide appeal outcomes within 48 to 72 hours.
RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said: “Our members’ unity, fortitude and willingness to take strike action have pushed Rail Gourmet to address a toxic management culture.
“We welcome these commitments and we will ensure Rail Gourmet management upholds its obligations in creating a decent workplace where staff are treated properly.”
Rail Gourmet has been contacted for comment.
